Outage Safety Tips:
-Stay away from any downed power line.
Immediately call 800-432-9720 to report its location.
-Do not try to remove tree limbs that have fallen onto the power lines. Immediately call Carroll Electric.
-Be sure a generator is safely connected. Call Carroll Electric for proper connection information. 1-800-432-9720

There are some things you can do to prepare for some of the difficulties an outage can cause.

An emergency preparedness kit should include:
-Bottled water, at least one gallon per person, or perhaps sanitize your bathtub and fill it full; five gallon buckets or plastic storage tubs also work well for keeping water
-Flashlights with extra batteries or candles and matches; for safety reasons jar candles are a good choice
-Extra clothes and blankets (if it’s winter)
-Battery-operated radio
-Non-perishable foods such as energy bars or peanut butter with crackers
-Extra supplies for babies
-Extra provisions or assistance for the elderly or disabled
-First aid kit
-Car chargers for any mobile devices

It’s also important to keep cold food safe during a power outage. First and foremost, keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed to maintain the cold temperature: if unopened, a refrigerator will keep food safely cold for about four hours; a full freezer will generally do so for about 48 hours (24 hours if it’s half-full).
